Darker Tones & Inclusions

Purple mined diamonds are most commonly “included” and generally fall in the SI1 to I2 range. Dark inclusions and clouds are quite common. Purple diamonds with clarity grades of VS2 or better are rarer and fetch much higher prices.

Form

Purple mined diamonds can be found in virtually all shapes. Unlike other colored diamonds, purple diamonds tend to have darker tones, so they can sometimes be cut into the round brilliant shape without sacrificing color saturation. However, keep in mind that purple diamonds are so rare that a round diamond will still be very hard to come by.
