In the growing process of laboratory diamonds, Laboratory Grown Diamonds (sometimes incorrectly called synthetic diamonds), the natural growth process is
- in the deep interior of the earth (HPHT) or
- in interstellar gas clouds (CVD)
is mimicked or imitated. The crystallization of the carbon takes place over months, depending on the size.
Subsequently, the grown rough diamond is cut, polished and cut by a diamond cutter.
